Republic of Ireland face a stern challenge at home when they play host to five time World Cup Champions Brazil in an International Friendly This match will give Brazil boss Dunga one of his final chances to determine which 23 players will make the trek to South Africa in June.
The Irish have been trying to cope with the frustration of their controversial elimination from the World Cup at the hands of a less than honest France. Former Italian national side boss Giovanni Trapattoni is still in charge and he will be looking to find his best team for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers. Among the new faces in his squad are Wigan Athletic’s James McCarthy and Marc Wilson of Pompei.
Brazil had a strong qualifying campaign in South America which featured an impressive 1-3 victory of Diego Maradona’s Argentina and they had preceded that result with a strong 0-4 away to Uruguay- where they had not won since 1976. As usual, the south american giants will head to South Africa as one of the favorites to win the cup but of note, AC Milan start Ronaldinho continues to be left out of the national side mix. Instead, the 2 two time defending south american champions will continue to feature the likes of Robinho- now back in Brazil, and Adriano.
